Help shape our future and make a lasting impact today by sponsoring a student to work with a Member of Parliament!
For the last 14 years, the National Council on Canada-Arab Relations (NCCAR) has successfully implemented a program that aims at placing Arab Canadian youth from across the country in Parliamentary Internships. The program is designed to inform and educate young Canadians of Arab origin on our Canadian political process, and provide them with the opportunity to acquire hands-on experience. The placement is for a period of six weeks, occurring between May 2010 and August 2010. This program has the full support and cooperation of members of the Canadian Parliament.
Through this internship, our graduated interns have gained invaluable knowledge of and appreciation for the political process. Some of them have decided to work with political parties, non-governmental organizations, and government agencies.
The educational value of this program was not one way only: having an Arab Canadian intern has increased the interest in and knowledge of Arab Canadians by the host Parliamentarians, making them aware of the opportunities of cooperation and understanding between the people of Canada and the Arab World.
This year, NCCAR is pleased to continue with this successful program, and we are counting on your support in both inviting qualified candidates to apply for the internships, and in helping fund them.
Once again, we are looking into bringing young students from across Canada. The number of interns will depend on the funding we receive from individuals, businesses and associations. We are looking for funding for at least three interns, at a cost of $2000 each. This amount covers the stipend for the interns and administrative costs. NCCAR will issue a tax receipt for donations to this program.
We hope that you will consider this program to be valuable to Arab Canadian community, and the Candian community at large and help us send interns on the Hill this year again.
