Qualifications

Cairo asks a lot of its interns, and Cairo itself is a demanding city, both personally and professionally. We have found that while academia can teach a lot, getting the most out of a stint here is even more closely bound up with attitude and experience. So while you should by all means tout your degrees and your scholarships, also show how adaptable you are and that you have worked in stressful situations and under less than ideal conditions.

Responsibilities

Writing

Starting with briefs for the news and business sections, interns will have the opportunity to work with editorial staff to develop material for all sections of the magazine as appropriate. Tasks will include, writing briefs, writing movie, music and restaurant reviews, writing news and business stories and writing features.

Photography

Working initially with editorial staff to develop background and archival material, interns will have the opportunity to contribute material to all sections of the magazine. Tasks may include covering events, taking pictures for promotional material and developing material for projects in collaboration with writers.
