Cultural Programs
Culture is a core element of NCCAR's third fundamental belief which states "Canada and the Arab world desire expanded cultural and educational ties".
NCCAR maintains that cultural representation is important to understanding the beauty the traditions and nature of the Arab Region. Through a series of activities and events in Canada and internationally, NCCAR attempts to give Canadians and Arabs a better appreciation of both cultures.
Supporting cultural activities - such as the "Min Zamaan-Since Long Ago: The Syrian-Lebanese Presence in Montreal between 1882-1940" exhibit in Montreal or the celebration of the nomination of Sana'a as the 2004 Capital for Arab Culture in Ottawa and Calgary - is key in achieving NCCAR's main objectives of increasing Canadian awareness and knowledge of the Arab world and to encourage the expansion of commercial, scientific, educational and cultural links between Canadian and Arab institutions.
Recently, NCCAR has been involved in the coordination of various cultural events
including the Iconic Egypt & Beyond art exhibition by Marlene-Luce Tremblay,
musical night by Palestinian Band SABREEN, and Ballet Petra at the Canadian
Museum of Civilization in 2006.
NCCAR continues to work on organizing new and unique cultural events. Updates on these events will be posted on this page once
they are confirmed and finalized.

The National Council on Canada Arab Relations’ (NCCAR) Cultural Exchange Program provides a unique opportunity to an Arab-Canadian youth to learn about and reconnect with their Arab heritage. Through its many programs NCCAR encourages Canadians to travel to the Middle East and experience its culture. This program will allow the participants to deepen their understanding of the Arab world as they are guided through the exciting process of discovering Lebanon.
NCCAR in Cooperation with the League of Arab States and the Lebanese Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Emigrants is coordinating 4 Summer Cultural Exchange Placements hosted by the Lebanese Directorate General of Emigrants.
As part of the Camp Program NCCAR hopes to offer Arab-Canadian youth the rare opportunity to experience the colorful Lebanese culture through visits of popular tourist sites, seminars and excursions offered at the 8th Annual Lebanese Emigrant Youth Camp.
NCCAR Summer Cultural Exchange Program aimed to strengthen cooperation between young native Arab and Arab emigrants from varying backgrounds.
The Camp commenced on July 16 and run until July 25.
The Selection Process was based on the following criteria. Applicants must: - be at least 17-25 years old, - be a student, - be Canadian citizens/permanent residents, - demonstrate high involvement in the community through volunteerism, - demonstrate high past/present scholastic achievements.
