Canadian Arab Federation
CAF raises awareness of issues that affect the Canadian Arab community and achieves this objective through education, public awareness, media relations and non-partisan government relations. Established in 1967, the Canadian Arab Federation (CAF) is a national, non-partisan, non profit and membership-based organization which represents Canadian Arabs on issues relating to public policy.
Through education, public awareness, media relations and non-partisan government relations, CAF raises awareness of domestic issues that affect our community.
CAF is committed to the protection of civil liberties and the equality of human rights; to combating racism and hate in all of its forms; to working with politicians and bureaucrats at all levels of government on issues of importance to Canadian Arabs: to promoting community empowerment through civic participation; to the assurance of accurate representation of Arabs in the media and all areas of civil society and to a strong, vibrant multicultural Canada.
National Council on Canada-Arab Relations
NCCAR was established in 1985 by Canadians who believe that our national interest is best served through expanded educational, commercial, social, and scientific exchange with the Arab world.
NCCAR works with governments, the private sector and community organizations to promote and assist programs that increase Canadian awareness and knowledge of the Arab world.
NCCAR promotes greater recognition of the social, economic, political and cultural contribution of Arab Canadians to Canada; makes information related to the Arab world available to individuals, organizations, educational institutions, libraries, media and Canadian provincial and federal governments; publishes a monthly newsletter and a quarterly journal (Arabica), which highlights our organizational achievements, current political and economic issues relating to Canada and the Arab world and to the Arab-Canadian community, educational programs, and upcoming events; promotes speakers that provide information on the Arab world; sponsors study tours and speaker tours between Canada and the Arab world; sponsors and coordinates the NCCAR Parliamentary Internship Program for Arab-Canadian university students; sends young Canadians to work in the Arab world as part of the Young Professionals International program, and supports cultural and historical exhibitions between Canada and the Arab world. |
