Tasks to be performed by participant:
The young professional placed at the Jordan Times will find, research and write stories for publication. They will cover all sorts of topics: news; items of cultural, sporting or scientific interest; local and national events; entertainment, lifestyle and human interest stories.

 

Level of responsibility within the organization:
The participant will be responsible for writing a number of articles per week. He/she will attend story meetings with the editorial staff and other reporters and will be responsible for proposing ideas for articles and features. He/she will also assist with copy editing.

 

Specific skills that will be developed
The participant will learn about the socio-political realities of the Arab region and have access to respected sources for interviews. He/she will learn to work on deadline, will develop the art of feature, news and headline writing and will have the opportunity to learn from experienced colleagues.

 

Experience required

·       Solid writing skills

·       Ability to work under pressure

·       Arabic an asset

·       Ability to work with little supervision
