The League of Arab States is an international body that works towards strengthening relations between the 22 member states as well as international organisations and government for the goal of world peace and security. www.arableagueonline.org

 

Tasks to be performed by participant:
The young professional will conduct research for the League of Arab States' general secretariat. Topics could pertain to human security, women's rights, children's rights, as well as Arab emigrants.

 

Level of responsibility within the organization:
The participant will be responsible for undertaking research under the guidance of the secretariat general. He/she will submit regular updates on the status of his/her research. He/she will also attend and help organize regional conferences. Lastly, the participant will help build ties with Arab organisations in North America.

 

Specific skills that will be developed
The participant will gain a solid understanding of the work of the League of Arab States, will network with key players in government and civil society, and will develop his/her research and writing skills.

 

Experience required:

·       Written and spoken Arabic is required

·       Solid research and analysis skills

·       Ability to work under pressure and with little supervision
