Tasks

The young professional will conduct research on parliamentary performance tools and best practices to help the Parliament of Lebanon develop its capacity. The participant will also undertake general research on democratic reform in the Arab region and will assist with the daily needs of the UNDP project.

Excellent writing skills are required and fluency in French and/or Arabic is an asset.

The candidate will have undertaken the study of parliamentary systems (Canada and other nations) at the undergraduate or graduate level (or as a result of work experience).

Duration of placement:

October 2005 - April 2006

Stipend: Covers travel, insurance, and about $1400/month in living expenses. Due to the high cost of living in Beirut, participants may be required to undertake their own fundraising.
